Vintage Icon: Paloma Faith

After our Bat For Lashes post it got me thinking about other modern day vintage style icons and one of the first ladies that came to mind was the songstress  Miss Paloma Faith. Huge voice and pop hits aside, Faith arguably has one of the most recogniseable looks in the music world.

From original 1940s hollywood glamour girl to pop-art and comicbook inspired ensembles, Paloma Faith's style is a cacophony of colour, glitz and hats (lots of hats). In an interview with Stylist Magazine she explains that she has two very different styles and that her fashion inspiration comes from Marilyn Monroe, Bjork, Grace Jones and Dita Von Teese as they all represent the different sides.  Let's have a little look at what she's on about!

Typical 40s glamour with victory rolls, red lips and polka dots.

Red Carpet glamour vintage style. All over gold sequins with matching sequinned pill box hat.

VS
The famous Yang Du Hippo dress.

Pom-poms replace pill box hats and neon crop tops replace polka dots.

Now, I mentioned that Paloma has a thing for hats (if you hadn't figured that out by yourself) so here is a quick edit of my favourite head pieces worn by Miss Faith. (May I add that the beautiful picture in the middle with her Carmen Miranda style head piece was taken by Kimi O'Neill).

When asked in the Stylist Magazine interview where she shopped, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Beyond Retro and Rokit are  two of her go-to stores in London's East end. Let's be honest, this girl has access to some incredible clothes out of our reach in both style and price! So it's refreshing to see such a big name supporting the country's vintage scene on the high street. If you want to get our hands on some Paloma Faith style where do you look? Well, we started the search for you.

  1. I love Paloma Faith's style, she looks exceptionally amazing in her New York music video, all inspired by 1950's bowling. She is so gorgeous and has amazingly intricate hairstyles,
